Representatives from several southern Alberta communities will also attend the tour. The trip will include a visit to the St. Mary Canal and the repaired Drop 5 infrastructure, which helps divert water from the St. Mary River to the Milk River. During the tour, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss water security in the region and new areas for collaboration.

- The Milk River watershed spans an area of 59,857 square kilometres across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Montana.
- The Milk River provides water for various purposes, including municipal, domestic, agricultural and recreational activity, though irrigation is the main water use across the watershed.
- In May 2020, the Drop 5 infrastructure failed on the St. Mary Canal. Work was done throughout the summer to repair the structure and water diversion resumed in October 2020.
